states have placed their historical BDM information online for people to search
for free. Not SA.

Tasmanian Archives is a great BDM resource
as they have scanned many original documents that you can view online for free.

Ancestry
Library Edition
Ancestry
Library Edition is available via the library catalogue and is available to be
searched for FREE in the library
Ancestry Library Edition contains thousands of online genealogy
databases that you can search for FREE (need to be in the library).
Search for what is available via the “New Collection” TAB, then filter your search by country and type of
resource. This is a great way to see what is available in a specific country.

Military Records

Searching for Australian military records? This is a great site to
search.

Commonwealth
War Graves
Search for information on soldiers killed in battle, including information
about their location (cemetery oversees) and view original documents show the
location of the soldier’s burial.
Find
War Dead at: https://www.cwgc.org/find/find-war-dead/
Find information such as Service number, Regiment, Date of death,
Burial location, Country of Service and Additional information (That can
include “Next of Kin” information).
AIF
project

Contains a lot of information about soldiers that served in WW1 –
information is taken from various sources and is a great overview of a
soldier’s history of involvement in the war.

of Veteran Affairs Records

Search for military records of solders that fought in wars that
Australian has been involved in including Korean, Vietnam and Gulf wars.

Records of the South Australian Red Cross Information Bureau held
in the collection of the State Library of South Australia (SLSA). From 1916
until 1919. This includes letters of enquiry from people in Australia about
soldiers fighting overseas.
